Lamb & Partners Ltd. Built Environment Consultancy were engaged by USM U. Schärer Sons Ltd in August 2014 to design and manage the installation of their IT and communications infrastructure, including the design of the central data rack and associated cooling in this their first solely owned UK showroom, based in the heart of London’s furniture and design hub in Clerkenwell. The design enabled communications back to USM’s head quarters in Switzerland and created a central data repository with power resilience, in the showroom itself. Lamb & Partners Ltd. then designed the connectivity to desks through existing containment and via wifi enablement within the showroom. A communications package was designed and procured that best served USM’s need to communicate regularly with Europe, as well as the rest of the UK market and with mobile technology. We also designed and managed the installation of the AV package for use in presentations to prospective clients. Lastly, we specified and procured an AC system that allowed the comm’s room housing the rack and UPS, to be kept cool enough to preserve the life of the UPS. Throughout the design and installation, Lamb & Partners Ltd. were on hand to advise the client, communicate with his IT department back in Switzerland and to manage contractors on site.
