Lamb & Partners Ltd. Built Environment Consultancy were appointed by Hitachi Capital in January 2015, to look at the feasibility of the proposed relocation premises for Hitachi’s vehicle leasing business in Telford. The initial brief involved the assessment of the prospective building and floor for its suitability to support the infrastructure required by their expanding business. The main design encompasses a new data centre and structured cabling on the 10th floor of a commercial lease in another part of Telford, away from the current facility. The design is on-going but is expected to consist of an entirely new installation of data and communications racks in a new technical equipment room, together with power requirements, AC requirements, fire suppression, UPS power back up and emergency power separation. The design will incorporate infrastructure connectivity to the office floor, which is to be set out in the New Ways of Working styled benching . Our duties extended beyond the design of the Technical Equipment Room and their contents, to managing the contractor’s interpretation of our requirements, quality management of the works on site and the building of the racks, along with all testing and commissioning. We will then assist the move migration and ensured that all work stations are proved functional prior to the move and on the morning after. As a step up from previous engagements with Hitachi, Lamb & Partners Ltd. are also offering a project management service to the fitout works and as the specifier of the majority of the works that do not encompass fitout activities, are also acting in the capacity of Principal Designer and Health & Safety advisor to the project. We are currently waiting a defined project start date and are finessing the design and tender documentation. The works are likely to complete in early 2016.
